Tobacco Harm Reduction Academy

and Global Tobacco Harm Reduction Scholarship Programme

Welcome to the THR Academy! We are committed to expanding knowledge and understanding of Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) through open-access, digital courses.

Tobacco harm reduction is a potentially life-saving intervention for millions of people across the world. To those who currently use high-risk tobacco products, like cigarettes and some oral tobaccos, it offers the chance to switch to safer nicotine products that pose fewer risks to their health. These include nicotine vapes (e-cigarettes), snus, nicotine pouches and heated tobacco products.

Our inaugural course, "Understanding Tobacco Harm Reduction" (UTHR), offers a comprehensive introduction to THR, exploring its evidence base, impact on public health, and the role it plays in reducing smoking-related harm. With six accessible modules, UTHR is designed for anyone interested in how THR strategies can contribute to reducing disease and death caused by smoking. We invite you to join us in learning about innovative approaches to harm reduction, empowering individuals and communities toward better health outcomes.

We also run a Tobacco Harm Reduction Scholarship Programme (THRSP).

Completion of the UTHR course will be pre-requirement to apply for THRSP scholarship. K•A•C is currently working with partners to look at developing  and extending the scholarship programmes.  Further announcements will be made early in 2025.
